September Surprise
Gore Range, Colorado
Autumn in the Rockies brings cool nights, brilliant colors, and sometimes unpredictable weather. This mid-September storm left a thick blanket of snow on the Gore Range and the surrounding lands. The return of the clear blue skies and warmer temperatures led to perfect conditions for a thin layer of morning fog across the mountains and meadows. Mt. Powell, the highest peak in the Gore Range centered itself between the fog banks to glisten in the morning sun.
