The seasonal transition from fall to winter is often intense and brief. The brilliant colors of the aspens and the golden meadows suddenly give way to blankets of snow. This early and wet snow came with strong winds and resulted in the snow sticking to the windward side of the trees. A brief break in the storm allowed filtered sunlight to illuminate the snow being blown from the treetops.
