Tundra Nomad

Tundra Nomad

Denali, Alaska

Bull moose are the pinnacle of the autumn experience in Denali.  Protected by the boundaries of the National Park, they become some of the largest and most powerful moose in the world. As autumn approaches, the bulls shed the velvet from their massive antlers (up to 6 feet across) and ready for the battles to prove their dominance.  They typically bed down during the day and are most active in the early mornings and late evenings. This huge bull began a trek across the tundra as night approached. In a moment of incredible natural beauty, the setting sun illuminated him as he stood in front of the foothills of Denali.
