Wilson's Awakening

Wilson's Awakening

Near Telluride, Colorado

The gradual changing of the sky color before sunrise and after sunset is known as the ‘magic blue hour.’  It is easy to become transfixed as the sky illuminates itself with varying shades of blue while the stars remain visible. Using a 10 second exposure, the camera is able to gather more light than our eyes can capture. The result is an amazing array of stars sparkling against a magnificent morning sky. Taken about 45 minutes before sunrise, fresh snow from the day before blankets the iconic Wilson Peak.  Frost covers the ground as autumn takes center stage. Aspen trees begin their seasonal transition and radiate greens, yellows and oranges in the first light of the day.
